Weekly Menu

Fresh & Local Ingredients

Chef Marcos Galvan designs the fixed menu approximately one week in advance and considers what seasonal ingredients are available to him. Fresh, local ingredients are used whenever possible. Our own garden and local farmers markets are our best sources for fruits, vegetables and meats! Starting with quality ingredients is the first step to preparing a memorable meal and our local vendors supply us with fresh and healthy foods. We strive to select products that areproduced and raised in an ethical manner. Organic has become a catch phrase and isn't always the healthiest alternative. We are looking for local partners to help us bring the most natural food to your plate. The following is information one some of local food purveyors.

Mom's Beef

Mom's Beef is raised only a couple of miles down FM 150 on the Michaelis Ranch. If you are visiting the Inn and driving in from Kyle, it will be on your right-hand side two miles past the 2770/150 intersection. Sharon Michaelis, the "Mom" in Mom's Beef, supplies us with her wonderful beef and part of the year with her fresh fruits and vegetables. Mom's Beef is pastured and humanely raised right here in Kyle, in fact you can sometimes find the cows pasturing here at the Inn. The cows are primarily grass fed and receive a daily serving of grain. The meat is processed locally in Johnson City and is aged a minimum of two weeks to help develope the flavor and tenderize the meat.

Pure Luck Farms

We are very proud to use Pure Luck Farms Goat Cheese here at our Texas bed and breakfast. Pure Luck Farms got started back in the late 1980's and was one of the first certified organic farms in Texas. Inn 1988 they started with a field of organic cucumbers and were fortunate to find a local buyer who was interested in purchasing organic vegetables. That company was Whole Foods. Obviously Whole Foods has grown some since then, as has Pure Luck. In 1995, after already having expanded into culinary herbs and fresh organic flowers, they made the decision to start a goat dairy. We're very glad they did because Pure Luck produces a wonderful Chevre goat cheese that we often use on our fresh garden salads.
Pure Luck makes a variety of award winning goat cheese just down the road from us near Dripping Springs, TX. In 2009 American Cheese Society Awards took place in Austin, TX and Pure Luck took home a trio of awards. The Basket Molded Chevre, Feta & Blue Cheeses all won ribbons at this year's award, and Pure Luck has been bringing home American Cheese Society Awards since 2001, so they are gathering quite a collection of awards. We agree with the ACS, Pure Luck Farms makes great goat cheese!

Brazos Valley Cheese

Brazos Valley Cheese is produced in Waco, TX and comes from cows that graze freely and have not been treated with growth hormones or antibiotics. The hard and soft cheeses are all natural and the high butterfat content from the milk makes their cheeses rich and creamy. Brazos Valley Cheese uses traditional cheese making methods including using an 1860's smoke house for their smoked cheeses.

Dinner Service Nightly

A wonderful three-course dinner every night at 6:00 pm in our dining room, where the dress is casual. Please bring your favorite wine with you as we do not have a liquor license. Seating is more like a dinner party with 4, 6, or 8 guests to a table. If you prefer dinner in your room, you can normally pick up a tray at 7:15 pm. Dinner can also be delivered to your room at roughly 7:15 pm for a small service charge.

Full Hot Breakfast

Every Morning you’ll find a basket of baked breads, scones, and/or muffins, as well as a tray of fresh seasonal fruits and our homemade granola. Your plated hot breakfast will be brought to the table by one of our breakfast staff. And, of course, every Inn Above Onion Creek day begins with fresh squeezed orange juice!
